Merchandise and Uniform Updates

We are getting a couple of enquiries about uniform purchase.

Our jerseys are owned by the club and given out each year (to be returned at the end of year). This will occur mid/late April.

Bottoms (girls and boys styles) can be purchased at our Kippax Sheds from the second week of April as well as black socks (watch out for opening times).

Unfortunately we have been advised by our supplier that our merchandise order has been delayed and should arrive early May. We are committed to getting it out to our community as soon as it arrives.

Footy isn’t just about what happens on the field but what happens off it too!

Huge thanks to Dave and the U14s who spent their morning giving back at the Nest making sure it is ready for the senior’s Belconnen Magpies Football Club start to the season next weekend.

Great work team!

We need players – 2012 and 2013

We need players – specifically for our U9 and U10 mixed and girls teams.
If you are looking for a weekend sport that builds skills, has a great community feel and still looking for players then we are the club for you. We don’t need one or two players we need quite a few so bring some friends along as well! No experience is necessary.
These age groups train at our local Kippax ovals and play games across the Canberra region. Whilst the draw hasn’t been released yet last year U10 (born 2012) mixed played first thing Saturday morning, U9 (born 2013) played after lunch and our U10 girls (born 2013 or 2012) played Sunday morning at 10am.
Registration is still open across all age groups

Lucky Door (registration) prize

Congratulations to Oscar Avilia of U8 mixed who is the winner of our Lucky ‘door’ registration prize for registering before March 21st.
Oscar wins a pair of footy boots of his choosing from Rebel. Rebel have been a sponsor of the club for many years and we are pleased to be supporting them again in 2022.
Congrats Oscar

U13 Mixed – Mardo and Skip

Have you met Mardo and Skip?
According to Skip, Mardo is ‘the goodlooking one with dark hair’ and he is the ‘other one’. But in our book anyone who is going to volunteer to coach our U13 mixed this season is a winner in our books!
These men are out training already and the team are looking sharp and having fun in preparation for the 2022 season.

Seeking players

Less than a week to go until we draw our ‘free footy boots’ from our registered players list (draw closes 21 March). Click here to register.

Registration is important at the moment as we look across our age groups to see where additional players may be needed. We know we are currently seeking players in the following age categories:
Mixed U8 (2014 or 2015)
Mixed U9 (2013)
Mixed U10 (2012)
Girls U10 (2012)

We are still accepting registration in other age groups however we are more confident with our player numbers. If you aren’t able to register at the moment and haven’t been in contact with your team please reach out via our socials or contact us here so we have you counted.

Under 12 Mixed Coach – Puddles

Have you met Puddles…. the passionate Essendon supporter in the middle below?
Jeremy aka Puddles has coached across both the senior and junior clubs. He’s looking forward to the season and seeing how the mixed u11 improve throughout the year, he’ll be working with Dave and Brent in coaching this team given all of their shift work commitments interfering with footy.

U12 Girls Coach – Andrew

Andrew was born and bred in Belconnen, having played junior footy for the Magpies from u/7s upto u/17s. He then progressed to playing senior football for the Belconnen Magpies from 1995 until 2008. During that time Andrew played in the club’s first 3 first grade premiership teams in 2002, 2003 and 2004. After finishing playing, Andrew was an assistant coach to the first grade team, in 2009 and 2010 and has coached his son’s Belconnen Cats junior team for the last 5 years. His daughter Jess now plays footy for the Magpies and Andrew is looking forward to coaching the u/12s girls team.
Sounds like our U12s are in good hands and are going to benefit from all those years of experience. Huge thanks to Andrew for volunteering .

U12 Mixed Coach – Netto

Who hasn’t met Netto?

Netto is our U12 mixed coach this year after spending many hours in both our senior and junior clubs over the past two decades (or is it three decades 😎)

His enthusiasm for development, love of the game and watching kids grow will be on display this year. Preseason training kicked off last night for u12 mixed.

We thank all our volunteers who help us get teams on the ground. Don’t forget registrations are open and if you register by 21 March you go in the running for footy boots of choosing at Rebel.
