QR Codes and Covid – Magpies Belconnen Ovals

The Check In CBR app is now mandatory for all restricted businesses, venues and activities in the ACT – including sporting activities.

You will now find QR codes at all our local enclosed ovals, district playing fields and neighbourhood ovals, as well as a range of indoor sporting venues across Canberra.

So if you’re playing an organised game of sport, be sure to use the Check In CBR app before play and help keep our community safe!  You can download the app here:

QR codes are available for our Holt ovals as part of Magpies being Covid-safe. Each time you attend these locations for training or playing, please scan on the Check in CBR app. The codes are located on the outside of change rooms and will be prominent on game days. We will also conveniently upload them here. All attendees 16 and over (who are there more than 15 minutes) are required to scan. Stay safe and we can continue to play AFL.

Footy’s Back

AFL NSW/ACT welcomes the ACT Chief Ministers announcement today that from 10 July 2020 contact community sport competitions can restart for participants in the ACT.

To ensure players are well-prepared for competition, AFL NSW/ACT will commence a necessary contact-training and match preparation phase from 19 June (Stage 2.2) for ACT participants only and will work with AFL Canberra Clubs to begin a dynamic 2020 Community Football and NAB AFL Auskick Season, with the first bounce of official competition play for all ages planned for the weekend of 17 – 19 July 2020.

West Belconnen Magpies – Training and COVID 19

We are facing the challenges presented by dealing with COVID 19. Although the guidance from public health officials and the AFL is that smaller activities can proceed, I consider that Magpies Juniors should take steps as a Club to limit the risks associated with the virus.

As such, no training or club activities are to be conducted for two weeks from Tuesday 17 March 2020.

This also coincides with the period that the sports grounds will be closed for maintenance.

The Club will reassess this position at the end of the month and will let you all know when Club activities can recommence.

Thank you for your understanding.
