Round 1 crossed off your to do list

Round 1 is done and dusted, but before we move on, some images from the round.

Indigenous Round

This weekend we are taking the opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and contribution to our game. Magpies Juniors is committed to representing our communities and showing commitment to reconciliation every week.
Some of our teams are lucky to be wearing the Indigenous jersey this weekend, which is the same design worn by the Belconnen Magpies Football Club and reflects and pays tribute to Ngunnawal country, the land on which we live and play football.
The actual piece of artwork that the design is based on is called “Moving Mountains”, and represents the Brindabellas, Black Mountain, and Mount Ainslie. The original artwork was donated to the Belconnen Magpies Football Club by the designer, Luke Penrith, and sold at auction at the BMFC 100 Game dinner last year. The winner subsequently donated it back to the club, where it is now proudly displayed in the function area of the Nest.
Thanks to Luke Penrith Arts and Designs for allowing us to use his amazing design!

Meet Judge (and a reminder no dogs on game days)

Check out Judge in his Magpies gear. Seems a very excited mascot watched on last night. We will be looking to sell some old Magpies gear in coming weeks if you want to deck out your cat, dog, rabbit or bird too!! We would love to see a photo of our paw-supporters.
Whilst the girls at U10s had a great time with Judge last night we remind our community that dogs are NOT allowed on game day as governed by ACT Sports and Recreation. On the spot fines from the ranger apply.
